The Lenovo Glasses T1 AR wearable can be connected to a compatible device via a USB-C wired connection and will offer you a virtual screen that seemingly floats in the space in front of you. For your smartphone, this means blowing the size up considerably making it feel like you’re watching a virtual TV. If this all sounds a bit familiar, that’s because there’s a pair of smart glasses that does all of this already: the Nreal Air AR glasses . The Nreal Air specs can also connect to your smartphone via a wired connection to increase your display size, and the similarities don’t stop there. A set of malicious Google Chrome extensions designed to monitor browsing activity have been installed on more than 1.4 million devices, researchers have reported. As described in a blog post from security company McAfee, the purpose of the scam is to modify the victim’s browser cookies each time they visit an ecommerce website, thereby netting the operator an affiliate fee for any purchases made. Although two extensions branded as “Netflix Party” have now been removed from the official extension marketplace, McAfee says the remainder are still available to download. Folio Photonics has announced new advances in the field of material science it says will pave the way for ultra high-capacity, low-cost optical disc cartridges. The data storage company claims to have developed the first “economically-viable, enterprise-scale optical storage discs with dynamic multi-layer write/read capabilities”, delivering a dramatic improvement in cost per capacity. Modern archival discs feature only three optical layers per side, but the breakthrough achieved by Folio Photonics allows for up to 16 layers to be applied to each surface of a disc, increasing capacity significantly. A security researcher has sounded the alarm over a portable SSD listed on both AliExpress and Walmart, which appears to be programmed to misrepresent its own storage capacity. As reported by Ars Technica , a researcher that goes by the name of @RayRedacted on Twitter has published a teardown of an XGeek-branded SSD with a supposed capacity of 30TB, on sale for between $29-$39. Upon close inspection, he found the manufacturer had likely meddled with the drive’s firmware in order to trick Windows into misreporting the available storage capacity, which in reality is far, far lower. Fake portable SSD? Suspicious of the capacity claims, @RayRedacted purchased the SSD in question from AliExpress. It shouldn't be too much longer before the Apple Watch 8 is unveiled, and we might well see a premium Apple Watch Pro model appear alongside it – and it would seem that Apple has ambitious plans for this particular wearable. As per the usually reliable Mark Gurman at Bloomberg , Apple has been discussing adding satellite connectivity to its smartwatch line. That's a premium feature suitable for a premium watch, and it could make sense for a future Apple Watch model. There's still a lot we don't know about the Apple Watch Pro (which has been given a variety of names in the leaks we've seen up to this point), but the ability to ping satellites directly would be useful in scenarios where Wi-Fi and cellular networks aren't available.
