Indian smartphones market set to rebound strongly

Xiaomi, which opened its 3,000th Mi Store in India yesterday, seems to very gung-ho about the smartphones market rebounding in India. Smartphones sale that touched its nadir in April due to the strict lockdown is all set to majorly bounce back now that almost all curbs are lifted in many areas. Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Xiaomi India, said the Indian smartphone market is set for a strong rebound, primarily driven by pent-up demand as well as new demand associated with online education. In an interview to Economic Times , he said, Xiaomi's own production in India hasn’t reached its previous levels, and the company is still importing small quantities of phones from abroad. Poco X3 confirmed to launch on September 7 globally

Poco X3 will be unveiled globally on September 7. The launch date was confirmed by Poco Global Twitter handle right after the announcement of the new Snapdragon 732G mid-range chipset.  The Poco X3 Global launch is set for September 7 at 8PM(GMT+8). The launch event will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and also MIUI community. The Poco X3 will be the successor to the Poco X2 which was launched in India back in February. Facebook is threatening a massive news-sharing ban on its platforms in Australia

Social media giant Facebook has come out against proposed Australian media laws, issuing a statement today via its newsroom threatening to remove all instances of news appearing on its social media platforms in Australia if the country passes the recently drafted legislation. The proposed News Media Bargaining Code aims to make Facebook and Google pay for the news content that they benefit from by distributing , in an attempt to share the revenue more evenly between the tech giants and the Australian media if the latter's content is shared on their platforms. Google has recently taken a similar stance against the draft law, targeting Australian internet users with warnings about claimed 'dangers' to Google services if the legislation is passed. The Nokia 5.3 is now available for purchase in India. The smartphone was launched recently in India alongside the three other phones by HMD Global. Following its recent appearance in an FCC filing , Google's long-rumored Android TV dongle, is now closer than ever to an official reveal thanks to a listing found within US retailer Home Depot's internal systems. Qualcomm announced the next generation of chipsets to power mid-range gaming phones: the Snapdragon 732G, which could power the Google Pixel 5a and Xiaomi Mi Note 11 . That’s because the new chipset is replacing the Snapdragon 730G, which was introduced in mid-2019 and powers the Google Pixel 4a , Xiaomi Mi Note 10 family, and other mid-range phones. At least one phonemaker – POCO – has already affirmed in Qualcomm’s press release it will use the 732G in one of its future phones.  The improvements aren’t too significant from the Snapdragon 730G to the new 732G, but that’s not surprising in a year-old chipset: the core clock speed is upped from 2.2 GHz to 2.3 GHz, while the Adreno 618 GPU has 15% improved graphical rendering, according to the official press release.
